Eighteen years as Director of Jazz Studies.
From 2001 until 2019 Teepe was the Director of Jazz Studies at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, the Netherlands. In 2019 he stepped down as Director; he continues there as bass teacher, researcher and curriculum advisor.
New York comes to Groningen.
He is the inventor and founder of the program "New York comes to Groningen", a unique system of jazz education with a rotating visiting faculty from New York teaching at this international university in Europe.

From Manhattan to Newark — twelve years of teaching.
Joris Teepe was on the faculty of Queens College – Aaron Copland School of Music in NY as Bass Professor from 2008 until 2012, and bass instructor at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center / Wachovia "Jazz for Teens" program from 2000 until 2012.
He teaches workshops at universities and private institutions worldwide, and at summer camps such as Litchfield Jazz Camp (CT, USA), Jazzinty (Slovenia), Orsara Jazz (Italy), ChoJazz (Poland) and JZ Summer Camp (Shanghai, China).
